I miss the days of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana. I really miss Layne and Kurt. I miss that era. It doesn't define my life. I once had a fight with a guy when he didn't think the 80s could define me because I was born in 75, but no the 80s are still me. I guess I'm lucky I made it through the 90s lol. Those bands were a movement outside of the commercial aspect. They were cultural icons and they spread the culture across nations.
I remember wishing and praying for Layne's recovery. I was so afraid he would die and he did and I remember talking with my guitar instructor about how they didn't put his face on the cover of Rolling Stone, but they put that girl from TLC on the cover. Ok, both sad stories, but Layne had way more of an impact on the world. Big difference. I hate drugs and what they do to ppl. If you try to be all natural and positive and grow from the goodness of the world you're too much of a hippie I guess. You have to be dying of drug abuse to be cool in rock n roll. Look how much attention it gets you these days. You sing a song about how you won't go to rehab, you win a grammy. Amy Winehouse just makes me sad. I see her and I think, yeah that's like some of the ppl I've worked with and they're so sad and they spread their disastrous lifestyle to the next generation. Well...anywho...I miss the grunge movement. I guess that was my original point.
